How Can I Get My Film/Video/Tutorial on Steam?

As Steam moves into the living room with Steam Machines, Steam Link and the Steam Controller, Steam as a platform is well positioned to provide entertainment beyond games to our community. With this in mind, Steam has developed a streaming video platform based on the MPEG-DASH Standard to allow delivery of both short- and long-form content to customers.

If you are a film director, producer or tutorial creator, read through the information below on how you can make your content available through Steam.

What kind of content can I put on Steam?

Steam supports feature films, episodic or serial content and tutorials (illustration, design, modeling, audio, software, etc.). Videos do not have to be specific to games or the gaming genre. Rights to distribute worldwide are desired to reach all Steam customers.

How do I get started adding video content to Steam?

The first step is to email us at video@valvesoftware.com and provide the following information:

  1. A short description of your video content and/or a link to a trailer or preview video.
  2. If you are not a current Steam partner, please supply a Steam Account name that belongs to someone at your company with the authority to sign contracts and enter banking and tax information.

If you are an existing partner on Steam, you may also post any questions/concerns to the Steamworks Developer forum for assistance.
