Counter-Strike: Global Offensive cooldowns caused by pak01_001.vpk errors are non-negotiable and cannot be removed or reduced by Steam Support.
We highly recommend completing the steps below before attempting to play competitive to ensure you aren't kicked from games moving forward.
In some cases, the game's files on your hard drive may become corrupted.
To resolve hard drive corruption issues, please try verifying your local game files.
If the issue persists, try completely deleting Counter-Strike: Global Offensive from your computer and redownloading the game from steam.
If you continue to encounter this issue after verifying your local game files, this likely means that one or more of your computer's memory modules is bad.
You can test this by downloading Memtest and creating a memory diagnostic disc.
The diagnostic program is available for free and can be downloaded here.
Note: Please ensure that you use version 4.2 or later, as earlier versions cannot test more than 4GB of memory.
If your memory module is bad, we suggest that you contact the manufacturer's warranty department for an exchange or replace the faulting module.
