When matches are created they are labeled as "non-Prime" or "Prime only". When a non-Prime and Prime user matchmake together their lobby will always be downgraded to a non-Prime lobby; this is done to ensure Prime lobbies and matches are filled with only Prime users. Because of this setting, a non-Prime user will not be able to join a Prime user if they are already in a match that is labeled as "Prime only".
If a non-Prime user tries to join a Prime user's match they will receive the following error message: "Failed to join session because that game server is reserved for CS:GO Prime players."
No. In order to receive XP and earn a Service Medal you must have Prime Status. Without Prime Status you will not receive XP from any game mode on any server.
No. Competitive Skill Groups are only issued to users with Prime Status.
No. In order to receive weekly weapon case and graffiti drops you must have Prime Status.
Yes. Non-Prime accounts who played CS:GO before June 3rd, 2021 have until June 17th, 2021 to purchase Prime Status and have their previously earned XP and Skill Group reinstated.
After this date all accounts who have not purchased Prime Status will have their XP and Skill Groups removed.
