Issues and Fixes 


Video issues and updating Drivers

Rage has known issues with old video drivers. It is highly recommended that you fully update your video card's drivers before attempting to play this title.

Note: This title does not support integrated or Intel video devices. If your system contains two graphics devices, please ensure that Steam and RAGE are set to you your primary device. You can contact your system manufacturer for more information regarding this process.


Downloadable Content (DLC)

Downloadable content will not be listed as a separate entry in your Steam games list.

To view the additional content for this game that is registered to your account, please do the following:

Log in to Steam

Navigate to your Library list

Right-click on RAGE

Select "View downloadable content"

Any DLC that is listed in this window has already been downloaded and integrated with Train Simulator. If you are having trouble accessing this content, please contact RAGE Support for specific instructions for locating the content in-game.

If you have purposely deleted your DLC content and wish to re-download it, you can do so by verifying your game cache.


Secondary Installers

If you're encountering issues when launching or playing RAGE, make sure everything installed correctly.

Aside from verifying your game cache and checking your connection with Steam, you may also need to manually run secondary installers required by this game.

Exit Steam entirely.

Browse to your RAGE installation folder (Usually C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\RAGE\)

Run the following installers:

  • ...\rage\directx\dxsetup.exe
  • ...\rage\msvc2010\vcredist_x86.exe

Reboot your computer and test any issues again. If the issue persists, contact RAGE support.


OS Specific Troubleshooting

If the above does not resolve the issue and you are running Windows 7 or Windows Vista, please complete the instructions in our Windows 7 and Vista Troubleshooting FAQ.

If you are running in Windows XP, take the following steps:

  1. Exit Steam.
  2. Go to the Start menu, select Run, type regedit and click OK.
  3. Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\VALVE
  4. Right click and select Permissions
  5. Check the Allow boxes for Admin and System for both Full control and Read.
