Adding non-Steam games to the Library tab

 

DirectX 10 option is greyed out on capable Vista computer

To correctly launch your game in DirectX 10, please do the following:

  • Right click the game from the My Games tab and choose "Properties"
  • From the General tab, select "Set launch options..."
  • Type in -dx10 and hit OK
  • Re-launch the game and it should be in DirectX 10

 

Secondary Installers

If you're encountering issues when launching or playing Resident Evil 5, make sure everything installed correctly.

Aside from verifying your game cache and checking your connection with Steam, you may also need to manually run secondary installers required by this game.

Exit Steam entirely.

Browse to your Resident Evil 5 installation folder (Usually C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Resident Evil 5\)

Run the following installer:

  • ...\Steam\steamapps\common\resident evil 5\redist\WMFDist11-WindowsXP-X86-ENU.exe

Reboot your computer and test the issue again. If the issue persists, contact Resident Evil 5 support.

 

OS Specific Troubleshooting

If the above does not resolve the issue and you are running Windows 7 or Windows Vista, please complete the instructions in our Windows 7 and Vista Troubleshooting FAQ.

If you are running in Windows XP, take the following steps:

  1. Exit Steam.
  2. Go to the Start menu, select Run, type regedit and click OK.
  3. Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\VALVE
  4. Right click and select Permissions
  5. Check the Allow boxes for Admin and System for both Full control and Read.
