How do I report a suspected cheater in a VAC secure game?

Please do not publicly post SteamIDs, Cheats or links to Cheater Websites on the forums.

 

How do I report a suspected cheater in a VAC secure game?

While it is not necessary to report cheaters playing on VAC-Secured servers - the VAC system will detect and ban these individuals - players who are suspected of cheating may be reported via the Steam Community.

 

Note:

VAC does not ban based on reports. Such data is only used for tracking and statistics purposes.

 

To report a cheater:
  1. Go to the user's Steam Community profile
  2. Click on the large More button in the upper-left corner of the user's profile
  3. Click on the "Report Violation" button in in this dropdown menu 
  4. Select "Suspected Cheater", add a description (include the game and the name of the cheat if known), and hit "Submit"

 

To reach a user's Steam Community profile while in-game:
  1. Press shift+tab (by default) to bring up the Steam Overlay
  2. In the Friends panel on the left, click "View Players"
  3. Find the offending player under the appropriate tab and click "Profile"

If you are playing on an unsecured server, you may wish to report cheating to a server administrator - Steam Support cannot ban players for activities on unsecured servers.
