Important:

Secondary Installers

If you're encountering issues when launching or playing Company of Heroes, make sure everything installed correctly.

Aside from verifying your game cache and checking your connection with Steam, you may also need to manually run secondary installers required by this game.

Exit Steam entirely.

Browse to your Company of Heroes installation folder (Usually C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\company of heroes\)

Run the following installers:

  • ...\Steam\steamapps\common\company of heroes\VCRedist\vcredist_x86.exe
  • ...\Steam\steamapps\common\company of heroes\DX_redist_install\DXSETUP.exe

Reboot your computer and test the issue again. If the issue persists, contact Company of Heroes support.

 

Company of Heroes is loading into the wrong main menu

Company of Heroes and its expansions share many assets which are installed regardless of the individual expansion that is installed or launched. All content that you own and have installed will always be available in the game's Single Player menu regarless of the main menu that is shown.

 

Missing Localization for a Supported Language

Please complete the following process:

  • Verify the Game cache files for the installed Company of Heroes games.
  • If issue persists, exit Steam and go to: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\company of heroes
  •  Open file "Locale.ini"
  • Change "lang=English" to one of the supported languages: French, Italian, Spanish, German
  • Restart Steam and test the issue.

 

CD Key Issues

Fields requesting CD Keys should be automatically filled in.  If  this is not the case, please restart Steam, then Verify the Game Cache Files for all Company of Heroes installations in this order:

  • Company of Heroes
  • Opposing Fronts
  • Tales of Valor

Offline mode

The game prompts you to insert a CD/DVD.

This is a known issue with Windows Vista.  Please follow the instructions below:

  • Exit Steam entirely.
  • Right click your Steam icon and choose the "Run as Administrator" option to launch Steam with additional privelages.

If the issue persists, please complete this guide.
